Why me

How freelance writing works

Harriet Edmund

After 15-years in the Melbourne media industry (and the cultivation of an entrenched caffeine habit), my freelance writing portfolio includes:

  • Award-winning magazine feature articles for Runner’s World, Practical Parenting, SHAPE, Women’s Health & Fitness and more;

  • Covering short form news and sport for Fairfax Media, the Herald Sun and The New Daily;

  • Guest posts for websites such as Bupa, Qantas Travel Insider, Live Well Online and La Trobe University; and

  • Helping businesses and events such as the Brotherhood of St Laurence, Step into Life Australia and the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race to motivate their crowd with targeted copywriting. This includes SEO web content, media releases, ghost-writing, eNewsletters, case studies and blog posts.

When I’m not at my keyboard, I’m usually trying to keep fit or keep up with my two sons.

How I can help you

  1. Asking the right questions

My print journalism background means I know how to elicit the gold nuggets to make your content stand out.

  1. Staying relevant

You’ve probably noticed the media industry is changing, fast. That’s why I make professional development a priority. After winning a scholarship to complete a bachelor of Media Studies (Journalism) at La Trobe University in 2001, I’ve continued my learning at RMIT, the Australian Writers’ Centre and Media Entertainment & Arts Alliance. This means I’m across all the latest trends in print and digital freelance writing so that I can contribute to your outlet with authority.
